It’s nothing personal, of course; it’s just the law of diminishing returns. Even the most likeable personality can outstay their welcome.

But have you heard of something called “The Lumley Effect”? I doubt it, as I’ve just made it up, but basically it refers to people on TV who somehow have the opposite effect on us. People, I mean, of whom we actually find ourselves becoming increasingly fond, the more time we spend with them.
