WALLACE and Gromit have been saluted for saving Wensleydale cheese — even though their creator Nick Park was said to have never eaten it.
Cheese historian Ned Palmer said the beloved claymation comedy duo came to the creamy delicacy’s rescue when it looked doomed in the 1990s.
Sales of Wensleydale — made in Yorkshire — were at a worrying low but luckily animator Nick was very taken with the name.
