Tuchel wants end to June matches so stars can rest

THOMAS TUCHEL has called on football’s authorities to give players a proper holiday - even if it means axing the June international window.

- By John Cross

Tuchel believes the football calendar needs a major shake-up to ensure all competitions are aligned and to allow for all players to get a minimum four-week break.

Instead, some players will get an extended break at the end of the Premier League season, while others will only put their feet up after the Champions League final or the two England games in June.

The rest will go to FIFA's Club World Cup in June, with up to 12 England players at the month-long tournament in the United States.

It could affect Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Conor Gallagher, Jamie Gittens, Reece James, Cole Palmer, above, Levi Colwill, Noni Madueke, Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis, John Stones and Phil Foden.
