Trains hit by rocks thrown from bridge

A SCOOTER and rocks have been thrown at trains in a spate of attacks from the same bridge above a 120mph railway line.

One service was damaged as a large scooter was hurled off the crossing near Loughborough station, said East Midlands Railway.

Days later builders' waste was dropped on the track and a rock was thrown at a train. Within 24 hours a loco's windscreen was shattered by an object lobbed from the pedestrian bridge.

The attacks, from the crossing linking Allsopp's Lane with Little Moor Lane in the Leicestershire town, affected 21 services and caused more than three-and-a-half hours of delays.

Trains can travel on that stretch at up to 120mph.
