THE King proved he was sup to the job when tasked with pulling a pint on a visit to the brewing capital of Britain yesterday.

Charles poured and then enjoyed - a glass of Gone for a Burton at family-run Tower Brewery in Burton upon Trent, Staffs, which makes a quarter of the UK's beer.

The mid-strength ale is one of Tower's special brands. Owner John Mills said of the King's pint with its foamy head: “Are you going to have a slurp of that, Sir?”

Charles chuckled, noting if not he was “in the wrong place”, adding: “To your very good health,” before taking a sip.

Mr Mills also told the monarch about the 41% proof liquor, The Spirit of Burton, he had made with a colleague - a distilled version of one of his strong IPAs.
