THE Prince and Princess of Wales proved that their love for the country is baked in as they tried their hand at making Welsh cakes.

And the results impressed locals who snapped up the delicacies and described them as "banging".

The couple travelled to South Wales ahead of St David's Day on Saturday, wearing daffodils for the occasion.

It marked their first joint trip to Wales since October 2023, as Kate undertook just a few engagements last year following her cancer diagnosis.

Kate wore a scarlet Alexander McQueen coat, trousers and a brown roll-neck jumper as she and William arrived to loud cheers at Pontypridd market, 10 miles from Cardiff.

At The Welsh Cake Shop they got stuck in baking treats before handing the fruits of their labour to locals.
