Sun will put a spring in our step after cold snap

SUNNY spells should see most of the country shake off winter chills this week as spring arrives.

The new season starts on Thursday and experts forecast that higher temperatures will make the day feel like a turning point as better weather beckons.

According to the Met Office, temperatures could soar to 19C (66.2F) in the South of England on Thursday, higher than some overseas holiday hotspots: Ibiza is forecast to be 17C with Corfu a degree less.

Met Office meteorologist Becky Mitchell said: "We're expecting quite a lot of dry weather and increasing amounts of sunshine as we head through the next few days.
