SUGGS has revealed Madness got to stage their show-stealing set on the roof of Buckingham Palace only because Sir Elton John and Si Paul McCartney would not play the same piano.

Suggs: How Palace became House of Fun

The royal building was memorably lit up with images of high-rise flats and terraced homes in 2012 as the ska band belted out their hit Our House during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert But now Suggs, whose real name is Graham McPherson, has revealed the group were meant to be on the same stage as everyone else.

That was until it was realised the main platform had to be kept clear for a time so Sir Elton's piano could be replaced by Sir Paul's as each wanted to use their own.

So the idea was put forward to shift Madness, whose hits also included House of Fun, to the roof.
