Suella: Labour's making Britain an 'even bigger magnet' for small boats

The first Channel migrants of the new Prime Minister's tenure arrived yesterday just hours after new Home Secretary Yvette Cooper had vowed to smash the smuggling gangs.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister said: "We're getting to work straight away because we know that this summer will be challenging." He added the Government is "now focused on the work needed to secure our borders and smash the gangs".

imageFormer Tory Home Secretary Ms Braverman retorted: "More blah, blah, blah.

"I warned, but prepare to see the UK become an even bigger magnet for illegal arrivals and numbers soar as our borders disintegrate.

"We need to leave the ECHR, scrap the Human Rights Act and quickly remove people when they arrive illegally. Nothing else matters."
