Soldier was 'frightened and in tears' after officer 'pinned' her down for kiss

A FRIEND of tragic soldier Jaysley Beck told an inquest the 19-yearold phoned her in tears one night saying a senior NCO had "pinned" her down and tried to kiss her.

The Royal Artillery gunner was found dead at Larkhill Camp in Wiltshire on December 15, 2021.

The inquest has heard she had made a complaint against Battery Sergeant Major Michael Webber during a stay at Thorney Island, near Emsworth, Hants in July for adventure training.

L/Bdr Kirsty Davis, who had trained with Gunner Beck, told the hearing in Salisbury her friend had called in the early hours from her car where she had gone to spend the night.

Gunner Beck said "something happened that night, they were all having a few drinks, someone tried it on with her". L/Bdr Davis said in a statement that "he was trying to kiss her and she was trying to push him away, he was pinning her down".
