Schools risk Ofsted failure if pupils flout doughnut ban

SCHOOLS risk being downgraded in Ofsted inspections if pupils are caught flouting a new zero-tolerance doughnut ban.

The decree is part of Early Years Foundation Stage nutrition guidance — introduced at the start of term — proscribing sugary snacks deemed a “safeguarding and welfare” issue.

Official documents make clear the EYFS nutrition guidance “may be of interest” to Ofsted inspectors.

That suggests any school found flouting the sugary treat ban could be marked down when ranked in areas including curriculum, teaching, leadership, personal development and safeguarding.
