School of shock! Uniform bill now stands at £1.8k

THE average child will go through a whopping 945 items of school uniform over the years, costing almost £1,800, a study reveals.

The total includes 55 polo tops, 49 pairs of trousers and 42 jumpers, researchers found.

Based on clothes worn between the ages of four and 16, most youngsters will also go through 42 pairs of school shoes, 82 sets of socks and 58 shirts.

On average, parents fork out £149 per year on uniform items, equating to a massive £1,796 over the entire school period.
