Robber offered to get back my £12,000, says PC murder accused

A RETIRED curry house boss accused of masterminding the gun raid in which PC Sharon Beshenivsky died claims the money exchange heist was staged to "get his lost money" back.

Piran Ditta Khan, 75, told a court a business associate offered to rob Universal Express in Bradford in 2005 after hearing how £12,000 Khan's money had gone missing.

But he insisted he had "never" visited the premises 220 miles from his London home during 37 years of using its services.

Pivotal Rookie PC Beshenivsky, 38, was shot at point-blank range when she responded to reports of a robbery.

PC Teresa Milburn was also shot and seriously injured but survived.

Khan admits robbery but denies murder and four firearms offences.
