Protesting farmers send Keir packing

The Prime Minister had travelled to a Milton Keynes housing development to promote his latest announcement of 100 new towns with thousands of homes.

However, dozens of farmers with their tractors were lying in wait to lash out against the Government's tax bombshell.

Videos from a farming group showed numerous tractors "greeting Keir Starmer as he arrives for the opening of a new housing development", demanding that Chancellor Rachel Reeves abolish inheritance tax for all farmers.

imageSir Keir was forced to cut the visit short, with press interviews abandoned, as his conversation with local builders was drowned out by horns from the vehicles.

A clip of the PM's car driving away showed one protester shouting: "If you're in there just talk to us!"

It is thought he was then transported by a helicopter although it is not known if that was arranged in advance.
