Police boss: Minister told me to drop riot claims

A TORY police commissioner has claimed a Labour minister asked her to withdraw a statement suggesting that uncontrolled immigration was behind last summer's riots.

Donna Jones, the police and crime commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, said the minister called and asked her to take her statement down.

Ms Jones said she believed this shows Labour is now “out of touch”.

She also warned that further protests will happen unless the Government tightens up on immigration.
