Plane horror of Pan Am

PRESUMABLY in common with a number of viewers, I was quite surprised to find THE BOMBING OF PANAM 103 appearing in the latest BBC1 schedules. Hadn’t we recently had a Sky Atlantic drama on the very same subject, recalling the terrorist attack over Lockerbie on December 21, 1988?

Wouldn’t this new series, which continues tonight (9pm), be covering much the same ground, and in much the same manner, as Lockerbie: A Search For Truth, starring Colin Firth?

The answer became evident within the first few minutes of last night’s opening episode. That answer being: no, it very much wouldn't.

In its approach to the subject - the deadliest act of terror in UK history, claiming a total of 270 lives - The Bombing Of Pan Am 103 could hardly be more different.
