OUR STRUGGLING PUBS WILL FACE YEARS OF TAX RISES

RACHEL Reeves was accused of "costing Britain jobs" after it emerged struggling pubs face that our years of huge tax rises.

Tories said the Chancellor, below, is "shutting up shop" in the nation's high streets.

Meanwhile the Treasury admitted that tax relief to help landlords cope with giant increases in business rates will "slowly unwind" over the next three years.

There was anger as Ms Reeves ruled out support for shops, hotels and cafes despite fears they too may shed thousands of jobs.

The Shadow Chancellor, Sir Mel Stride, said: "The Chancellor chose higher business rates Businesses over backing our high streets couldn't be clearer: Labour's tax-and-spend agenda is already costing Britain jobs." Ms Reeves is also under pressure from Labour MPs to perform yet another U-turn amid fears that her tax increases will lead to more town centre premises being boarded up.
