On a wing and a prayer

NOT meaning this to sound flippant, I’m really not, but when I come across a programme with the title WHY PLANES CRASH (BBC1, 8pm), my immediate reaction is: why wouldn’t they?

Such is my shameful ignorance when it comes to the laws of physics, I still couldn’t really tell you how aircraft are able to fly.

I feel much the same when I see one of those huge ships, the size of a small city, and struggle to understand how it’s able to float.

Both achievements strike me as somewhat miraculous. So, yes,

I believe what I’m essentially saying here is that I’m stupid. I hope you appreciate my honesty, if nothing else.
