'Normal Nigel' stands for the common good

APPARENTLY if Nigel Farage were to stand in Clacton, Essex, he would win with 37 per cent of the vote. I dare say the same would be true of other seats too, including the so-called Red Wall, because in those seats people lead ordinary lives a million light years away from the privileged comfort of so many politicians and Farage, for all his own success, gets that.

- Ann Widdecombe

'Normal Nigel' stands for the common good

He understands that the majority of voters do dull, predictable work for unexciting wages. Modest bonuses, the occasional promotion or a change of job bring the only increases in prosperity while they fret about mortgage rates and what to do when the boiler breaks down. Those who run their own businesses work all the hours God sends.

The salaries, bonuses, holidays and lifestyles of the Metropolitan elite are as alien to them as life on another planet.

They have to take whatever policing, education, health services or social care is given to them and cannot seek a private alternative.
