NO CONFIDENCE! FURY OVER SPEAKER'S VOTE 'STITCH-UP'
Daily Express

FURIOUS MPs are plotting to oust the Commons Speaker after a "stitch-up" saved Keir Starmer from a Labour revolt.

In chaotic scenes, Tory and SNP members walked out of the Chamber after Sir Lindsay Hoyle, left, defied official advice, allowing the Labour leader to avoid a major rebellion on Gaza by his MPs.
The Speaker was later forced into a humiliating after hours of unbridled the House of Commons apology anger in Sir Lindsay was told his position is now "intolerable" and that he must quit. And last night, some 33 Conservative and SNP MPs had signed a motion of no confidence in the Speaker after it was tabled by Tory William Wragg.
Among Conservative signatories were Sir Graham Brady, Brendan Clarke-Smith, Lee Anderson and Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown. Pete Wishart, David Linden, John McNally and Joanna Cherry were among the SNP group supporting the call.
Asked if Sir Lindsay should quit, Mr Wishart said: "Absolutely. I cannot see a route for him to be able to command the respect of the whole of the House which will enable [him] to be in that chair." In 2009, 22 MPs backed an identical motion speaker Michael resigned two days later.
Earlier, Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt unleashed a furious attack on Sir Lindsay, a one-time Labour MP, for allowing himself to be dragged into party politics.
She said: "I fear that this most grave matter that we're discussing has become a political row within the Labour Party and that regrettably Mr Speaker has inserted himself into that with today's decision and undermined the confidence of on former Martin. He this House in being able to rely on its long-established standing orders to govern its debates." She told MPs the decision had "raised temperatures" on an issue where feelings are already running high and it had put members in a more difficult position.
