REIGNING Olympic 800m champion Athing Mu is out of the Paris 2024 Games boosting British athlete Hodgkinson's chances of Keely clinching gold.

Mu, 22, trailed home 22 seconds behind winner Nia Akins in the US Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon, after a heavy fall on the first lap.

The USA track and field squad is chosen from a long-standing rule that only the top three finishers at the Olympic trials are selected for the Games.
