Murdered Tory MP's daughter sues police and Home Office for failing to stop killer

THE daughter of murdered MP Sir David Amess is suing the police and Home Office for failing to stop his terrorist killer.

Actress and model Katie Amess has called for "proper accountability and learning" after Islamic State fanatic Ali Harbi Ali stabbed Sir David to death at a constituency surgery in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, in 2021.

Ali, 26, was referred to the Government's deradicalisation programme Prevent seven years earlier but fooled officials into believing he was not a danger and Scotland Yard closed his case in 2015.

Sir David, 69, had reportedly contacted Essex Police about an "upsetting" threat made in the days before he was killed by Ali, who had made an appointment to see him on a false premise to discuss foreign affairs.

But the force did not provide the MP with any officers on the day Ali stabbed him 21 times.
