Girl's death led to landmark pollution ruling
-
THE mother of a schoolgirl who died from asthma caused by pollution is bringing a High Court claim against the Government to establish a Adoo-Kissilegal "right to clean air", a judge was told.
Ella Debrah, nine, suffered a fatal asthma attack in 2013. And in a landmark inquest ruling in 2020, she became the first person to have air pollution listed as a cause of death in the UK.
It marked the culmination of a long battle by Ella's mum Rosamund Adoo-KissiDebrah to have the role of dirty air in her daughter's death recognised.
She is the administrator of her late daughter's estate which is now suing three Government departments for compensation over Ella's "illness and premature death".
