Ministers row back on earnings rule for migrants

A PLANNED hike in the earnings threshold that Britons need to bring foreign family members to live in the UK has been eased.
Home Secretary James Cleverly had announced the increase from £18,600 to £38,700 to help curb legal migration. But the move attracted criticism as it threatened to tear families apart.
Now Home Office minister Lord Sharpe has confirmed an increase to £29,000 in the spring. The minister said that the current £18,600 allows 75% of the working population to bring in foreign family members.
