Met police must declare if they are Freemasons

POLICE officers in the largest force in the country must now tell bosses if they are part of the Freemasons.
Move prompted by Daniel Morgan probe
The Metropolitan Police has added the group to its declarable associations policy along with other “hierarchical organisations”.
Freemasons take an oath of loyalty to the fraternity’s principles and to supporting its members.
It is believed there are around 200,000 people involved with the group in England and Wales.
Officers and staff are now required to declare membership “past or present” of any organisation that is “hierarchical, has confidential membership and requires members to support and protect each other”, the force said.
