Man locked five starving dogs up in filthy crates

A PET owner who locked starving dogs in filthy crates has been given a suspended jail term.

Daniel Berry admitted causing unnecessary suffering after a court heard the animals were coated in faeces.

RSPCA inspectors found five dogs including a puppy in grime-covered conditions, with one suffering a flea infestation and skin condition.

An investigator who visited Berry’s address last December said: “There was a strong smell of urine and faeces at the front entrance even before entering.

“The house was unkempt and unsanitary, and all the rooms were dark, dingy and smelly.
