Man held as video appears to show woman shoved into a chair at crisis care home

A MAN has been arrested amid a probe into allegations of abuse at a care home.

He is being questioned after a video on social media appeared to show an elderly woman resident being forcibly shoved into a chair.

It comes seven months after the Daily Express revealed a frail dementia patient had been evicted from the same home against her wishes.

The chair incident, which bosses say happened in 2022, is the latest in a list of shortcomings at Summerfield House.

Since 2020, the home in Halifax, West Yorkshire, which charges some residents £1,100 week, has received a a "requires improvement" rating in five consecutive inspections.

A current inspection by the Care Quality Commission watchdog could lead to the building, run by Bondcare, being put into special measures. A council-led safeguarding review is also under way.

It is the latest incident to spark calls for tougher regulation of a sector care campaigners call the "Wild West".
