But Mark Boyd's shot Shared Parenting has not got the competition licked just yet - look at some of the animal artistry it is up against. He was in Kenya's Maasai Mara wilderness as the females returned from hunting to the five cubs they had left hidden in bush for safety.

It is one of 25 images the public can vote for online or at the contest exhibition at the Natural History Museum before January 31.
