Letby to face another trial for attempted baby murder

SERIAL child killer nurse Lucy Letby is set to face a retrial next year on an allegation of attempting to murder a baby girl.
Letby, 33, was sentenced to a whole life order when convicted last month of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six others on the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2015 and 2016.
However, the jury for the 10-month trial at Manchester Crown Court was unable to reach verdicts on six counts of attempted murder relating to five babies.
Now the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed it is seeking a retrial of one of those outstanding six counts the attempted murder of Baby K in February 2016.
The parents of Baby K sat in the public gallery as the announcement was made to Manchester Crown Court yesterday.
