Late Queen 'wouldn't have been aware of anything' as she painlessly 'slipped away'

QUEEN Elizabeth's final moments were peaceful and pain free according to a note written at the scene by her most senior courtier.
Sir Edward Young, the monarch's devoted private secretary, was at Balmoral when she died on September 8, 2022.
He wrote: "Very peaceful. In her sleep. Slipped away. Old age. She wouldn't have been aware of anything. No pain." Shortly after Sir Edward recorded the historic moment in his private note - now part of the Royal Archive - a footman brought a locked red box of paperwork to the Queen's deathbed.
When it was opened, staff found two sealed letters: one to her son and heir, King Charles III, and the other to Sir Edward himself.
