THERE'S a new series of BERGERAC starting tonight (U&Drama, Freeview 20, 9pm).

Yes, Bergerac - the show that starred John Nettles as a detective on the sunshine island of Jersey.

I say "starred" because that was 40-odd years ago, and what we have here is a new version, with a new actor in the title role.

Nettles is 81 years old, so obviously it would be a bit daft, if not downright irresponsible, to have him still chasing baddies.

You don't chase baddies when you're 81. Not unless you're Harrison Ford. So are they calling the new one a "remake"? They are not. Nor is it a "rehash" or "reboot". No, this latest version, starring Damien Molony, is a "reimagining".
