Ipswich spell with McKenna priceless for Grant

LEE GRANT plunges head first into the choppy waters of management for real today - and he admits the Huddersfield job is already consuming every waking minute.

But the former Manchester United goalkeeper, 42, is confident he can succeed due to his apprenticeship under the man he describes as Britain’s best young manager.

Grant, whose Terriers host Leyton Orient in their League One opener, spent three years as an assistant to Kieran McKenna at Ipswich.

Having helped the Tractor Boys rise from the third tier to the top flight, Grant believes that education will stand him in good stead.

“I can’t think of anybody better,” Grant said of McKenna.
