Eve Myles and Gabrielle Creevy star in BBC thriller The Guest - a story to make you think twice about the friends you keep

- WORDS: LAURA CARRENO-MÜLLER

Eve Myles didn’t need to think twice about signing up for The Guest, the BBC’s latest thriller. “It was an absolute no-brainer from the word go,” she says. “I was actually on the way to take my daughters to the Taylor Swift concert and this came through. My kids were like, ‘The taxi's coming!’ I said, ‘But The Guest has just come through and it's really good.” Eve had to wait until the end of the concert before diving into the script, but from the moment she read it, she was completely hooked.

Created by Matthew Barry (Industry, Men Up) and directed by Ashley Way (Doctor Who, Torchwood), The Guest is a fast-paced four-part series from Quay Street Productions, the company behind recent hits Nolly and After The Flood — and for Eve, it was irresistible.

“They're a masterclass in creativity and have an astonishing catalogue,” Eve, 47, says. “I've always wanted to work with them.”

In The Guest, Eve plays Fran, a wealthy, successful woman whose life looks enviable from the outside, but when she hires a cleaner, Ria, played by Gabrielle Creevy (In My Skin, Three Women), cracks begin to show.
