But Rees-Zammit doesn’t regret his NFL adventure

- By Adam Hathaway

I WAS JUST WASTING MY TALENT IN STATES

LOUIS REES-ZAMMIT returned to rugby union after fearing his talent was being wasted on the practice pitches of the cutthroat world of American football.

The Wales star had a 20-month crack at making it Stateside with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars, right, before admitting defeat and heading home.

Rees-Zammit, capped 32 times by his country, signed for Bristol earlier this month after he was unable to make the transition from union wing to running back or wide receiver.

The 24-year-old, who agreed a one-year deal at the Bears, failed to play a regular-season game in the States and spent most of his time on the training ground, but has no regrets at having a go.
