A MUM shocked into action after reading the words "morbidly obese" on her medical records has been crowned Slimming World's Woman of the Year after losing half her body weight.

Ali Ridgley, 52, had tried to lose weight before but never managed to keep it off.

The pounds had started to pile on after she moved to college. She eventually ballooned to nearly 23 stone.

But when Ali saw the words spelling out just how great the danger to her health and her life was, she decided it was time to transform herself.
