Police shared details of stab victims' injuries on WhatsApp

- Paul Jeeves

How could they?

GRIEF-stricken relatives of the Nottingham knife rampage victims say they are sickened after police officers shared details about their loved ones' fatal injuries on WhatsApp.

Nottingham University students Barnaby Webber and Grace O'MalleyKumar, both 19, and caretaker lan Coates, 65, were killed by Valdo Calocane on June 13 last year.

The nature of their wounds and "crude and distasteful" remarks were shared on a Nottinghamshire Police social media group before being forwarded outside the force.

One officer reportedly posted a message on WhatsApp before another officer PC Matthew Gell-forwarded it to his wife and a friend.

A shift group, which included PC Gell, was sent details of the injuries suffered by the victims and information on how the force was responding to the incident as it unfolded.
