Hope rises for families bereaved in RAF disaster

RELATIVES bereaved by the RAF Chinook disaster that killed 29 people in 1994 say they are “getting somewhere” after defence ministers agreed to meet them.
The helicopter crashed on the Mull of Kintyre on a flight from then-RAF Aldergrove in Northern Ireland to Fort George near Inverness, killing 25 intelligence staff and four special forces crew.
The tragedy was initially blamed on pilot error but the verdict was overturned in 2011.
