Heathrow drops 100ml liquids rule

PASSENGERS at Heathrow can now leave liquids in containers in their bags while going through security after a £1billion scanner upgrade.

Travellers can keep liquids of up to two litres in carry-on bags and no longer need to remove laptops or place toiletries in clear plastic bags.

It follows the full rollout of high-tech CT scanners across all Heathrow terminals and makes it the biggest airport in the world to introduce the equipment everywhere.

Gatwick, Edinburgh and Birmingham installed the scanners earlier.

They also increased the liquid limit to two litres but Heathrow, the UK’s largest, is the first major airport to complete the transition.
