Fury at Modi's embrace of Putin

INDIAN premier Narendra Modi enraged Britain as he cosied up to Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

The leaders of the nuclear powers embraced warmly yesterday, as Nato leaders gathered in Washington after the Russian missile attack which hit a children's hospital in Ukraine.

Britain sends tens of millions in aid to India each year and the meeting sparked fury among the Taxpayers' Alliance.

A spokesman said: "The horrifying events in Ukraine have rightly sparked condemnation all over the world.

However, some notable countries - while not condoning Russia's actions - haven't exactly condemned them either.

"India abstained on a vote at the United Nations to deplore Russia, while also raising the possibility of taking on Russian gas supplies.
