Fur out! Plan to bring back wildcats is ready to go

WILDCATS could make a comeback in the south west of England after a two-year study found there are enough habitats and local supporters for their reintroduction.

Conservationists said the region contains sufficient woodland, connected by other suitable habitats, to support a thriving population of wildcats.

An area across mid-Devon was identified as potentially the best spot for reintroductions.

Independent research found that about 80% of people in the region were positive towards the reintroduction of the UK's most threatened mammals to an area where they once roamed.
