Forget soggy bottoms...it's soggy cheeks for Mary at 90

DAME Mary Berry was reduced to tears by Prince William as he rose to the occasion and wished her a cake-filled 90th birthday yesterday.

The baking queen’s “priceless” reaction was broadcast on a special episode of BBC1's The One Show, which was dedicated to her landmark.

William, 42, told her in a video message: “Hi Mary. I want to wish you a very happy 90th birthday. You are a true national treasure and we've loved working with you over the years. Have a fantastic day today.”

Then he quipped: “I dread to think who's cooking your cake and the criticism they might get but, good luck, and I hope it goes really well.”

As she listened intently, Dame Mary was seen shedding happy tears and clapping her hands.

But show hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp revealed it wasn’t the first emotional moment.
