Fission of excitement as nuclear reactor lands...

THE second nuclear reactor of Hinkley Point C's £46billion twin power station has arrived at the Somerset site after travelling by land and sea.

The 42-ft long, 500-ton steel cylinder was shipped from Normandy to Avonmouth Docks in Bristol, then transported by barge to Combwich Wharf, Somerset. It completed the final four-mile leg to Bridgwater in a six-hour road trip on Sunday. Each of the reactors will power around three million homes with carbonfree energy when it is finally completed by 2031 - six years late.
