FERRARI SPIDER LEGS IT FROM THE TOP DOWN
Daily Express
|March 08, 2025
The 12Cilindri Spider is the latest drop-top to join Ferrari’s ranks, taking its V12 engine and whipping off the roof.
-
But the transition from coupe to convertible can be tricky, so will this Spider deliver the driving style youd expect?
WHAT'S NEW?
It might seem simple to take off a car's roof, but a lot needs to happen for the same sharp drive. With the 12Cilindri, that means a little extra reinforcement, but its clever metal folding roof has been designed so you can still use the luggage space. Remarkably, this Spider is hit with only a 60kg weight increase, too. Ferrari also never wanted to go down the route of a fabric soft top so that when the roof is closed, the 12Cilindri is just as refined as before.
WHAT'S UNDER THE BONNET?
You'll find one of the last great V12 engines mid-front - a 6.5-litre behemoth providing direct lineage through some of Ferrari's supercars. Here youre getting a heady 807bhp and 678Nm of torque delivered to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Zero to 60mph comes in at just under three seconds and flat out, the 12Cilindri Spider will manage a hair-blasting 211mph.
