FACIAL RECOGNITION COULD MEAN NO PASSPORT NEEDED TO ENTER UK

TRAVELLERS could arrive at the UK border without showing a passport in a trial of facial recognition technology this year.
New hi-tech gates at airports will use advanced cameras - which are already the standard in Dubai - for those arriving in Britain.
Phil Douglas, the UK Border Force's director-general, said the goal is to create an "intelligent border" reliant on “much more frictionless facial recognition".
Dubai's entry gates recognise 50 nationalities and let passengers through "in as little as five seconds", the city's airports authority claims.
