Faces lit up after dark days of war

THIS joyous photo of Britons rejoicing after six long and dark years is to be recreated to mark 80 years since VE Day.

It was May 8, 1945, 10,000 people gathered to celebrate the end of the war in Europe in Finchley, North London.

The photo was taken at Stephens House & Gardens, a Grade II listed Victorian mansion gifted for public enjoyment.

It is planning a huge celebration on Sunday May 4 and is searching for those who were there eight decades ago, or their relatives, to take a similar picture.
