Duo busy doing nothing

IT'S three years now since the BBC axed Holby City, a Tuesday night primetime staple since the dawn of time.

It did so, it assured us at the time, “with great sadness”, as part of its commitment to make more programmes across the UK, “in order to reshape the BBC’s drama slate to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country”, blah blah.

And has it done that? I can’t say I've noticed.

No doubt some BBC bod could pull us up a pie chart as evidence if we were to demand it, but let’s not do that. It only encourages them.

What I do know for sure is that, in the Tuesday night BBC1 slot where Holby City once sat where, even in its final years, it was playing to an audience of up to six million what we currently have is STACEY & JOE (8pm).
