Dougray Scott, Shirley Henderson and Valene Kane take us behind the scenes of their new Scottish drama

- WORDS: JO BERRY

A holiday park in the wilds of Scotland in wet and windy weather may not be as exotic as a five-star resort in Thailand or Maui, but Summerwater star Dougray Scott is aware his latest drama will still be compared to The White Lotus.

The six-part series begins with a holiday cabin on fire, then flashes back to the incidents that lead up to it, while focusing on the various holidaymakers who may be involved.

"There will be comparisons to White Lotus, although there are many differences between them," Dougray says. "It certainly has memorable characters and their stories intertwine with each other eventually, but they all have their own history and their own sort of mini story.

"You could do a whole drama series about every single character or every single couple in this story and over the course of six hours, it manages to tell very significant stories of these people's lives."

Dougray plays Dr David Campbell, who's been going to Summerwater with his wife Annie (Shirley Henderson) for decades. Their relationship is strained, however, as David is wracked with guilt over a past affair and is also struggling with Annie's declining health.
