Council feels the need for less speed ...with 10mph limit

FED-UP locals have been quick to hit out after a new speed limit of just 10mph was brought in.

Islington Council imposed the restriction on St John Street, near North London’s Smithfield Market, for six months of works.

But resident Jay, 56, who declined to give his surname, said yesterday: “It’s ridiculous.

“They’re blocking off all the roads, you just can’t get around.”

Phil Cudlipp, 68, says he struggles to ride his Harley-Davidson at 20mph let alone 10mph, as it stalls. “I walk everywhere now - there’s nowhere to park my bike nine times out of 10,” he added.
