China's attempts to spy on MPs written with 'poor English'

CHINESE attempts to hoodwink MPs and their staff could have tricked more of them had they been “written in better English”, one of those targeted has warned.

MPs were alerted this week that Beijing is trying to collect informa tion and “lay the groundwork for long-term relationships”.

Economists, thinktank staff and government officials have also been targeted as Beijing set a “low threshold” for what data is useful.

LinkedIn profiles for two recruiters - Amanda Qiu of BR-YR Executive Search and Shirly Shen of Internship Union - were alleged to have been used on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of State Security.
