Ahead of the release of the new Wuthering Heights film, SOPHIE CORCORAN stays in Brontë Country and checks in to Cathy's bedroom

In the heart of West Yorkshire's countryside, a stone's throw from the wild moors of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and the town of Halifax, is stunning Holdsworth House. Recently taken over by Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie, starring as Heathcliff and Cathy in Emerald Fennell's long-awaited adaptation, this hotel transports you to a time and place of rarefied luxury.

Cosy log fires and low, dark beams abound in a property dating back to the 13th century, when it was a small collection of barns. Now, it is a gorgeous place to stay, with beautiful food and mood and top-class service.

Holdsworth House was home to the cast and crew of the new film, which is released here on February 13, where they warmed up after days shooting across the dramatic Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Having been a massive fan of Wuthering Heights since I first read it at 14, I jumped at the chance to visit when Airbnb and Warner Bros sent out the invitation.

The moment I opened the book, I was swept away to Brontë's beloved wild and windy moors. In the years since, I've made the area my home and regularly enjoy walks nearby, wondering if I am wandering the same paths as Cathy and Heathcliff.

I was greeted with smiles from staff who showed me to my decadent room, which had a view of a hill and a naked tree that would not look out of place at Wuthering Heights.
